Okay, so what’s the big deal about carbs? You hear about good carbs and bad carbs - so what’s the difference?
You’ve probably heard that carbs are bad, but in reality, there are both good carbs and no so good carbs. The good news is that it’s pretty easy to figure out which ones are actually good for you.
Good carbs are the carbohydrates that are full of healthy fiber for the body. The good carbs are those that are slowly absorbed by the body, so you don’t get the bad spike in your blood sugar. Good carbs also include phytochemicals, minerals and vitamins. Just a few examples include fruits, whole grains, beans and veggies.
Bad Carbs are those that actually strip away fiber that is beneficial to the body. This can include processed and refined carbs. Some examples of these bad carbs include white flour products, white rice, and other processed or refined foods that include added sugars.
In the end, good carbs are those that are still natural or near to the natural state. They haven’t been altered or processed. For this reason, choosing to go with fresh organic foods is a wonderful eating choice. It provides you with all the building blocks you need for good health.
With organic foods, you get the right carbs that your body needs. When you’re in the grocery store, don’t be tempted by those colorful boxed foods. Sure, they’re easy to cook up, but they have less nutrition and are full of unhealthy carbs that your body doesn’t need. Eating simply organic will provide all of the good carbs that help to keep you healthy.
