There are periods of illness when you experience taking your usual vitamin pills is just not the best option.  Did you know that liquid supplementation is at least five times easier for the body to absorb than pills or capsules?

If you are going through an illness and not feeling well enough to enjoy meals or eating foods that are crunchy, then fresh vegetables juiced or blenderized is the perfect choice.  Actually, blenderizing these fruits and vegetables is an excellent solution because you’ll be drinking all of the food, including the fiber.

You’ve heard that “you are what you eat” but more accurately, you are what you assimilate.  You can take a handful of pills or capsule potions, but you may not get much benefit if your body doesn’t assimilate them properly.  You may be one of many that I’ve heard say juicing takes a lot of time, or it’s too messy to clean up afterwards.  Washing enough fruits and veggies to last two or three days will cut down on your work time.  Being sure you get the recommended fruits and vegetables will reward you many times over.

Another alternative to eating more difficult to digest foods is to put some cottage cheese and a couple of fruits into your blender, and out will come a different textured treat that tastes a lot like yogurt.  In fact, those on diets can benefit from this tip because yogurt is high in carbohydrates, whereas cottage cheese is mostly protein.  You can vary the fruit and change the taste preference, and it’s delicious.

Juicing is a great addition to anyone’s eating lifestyle, but blenderized fruits and vegetables retain all of the fiber.  For those who don’t particularly like vegetables can benefit from using this method to add nutritive value.  Blenderizing cuts your cost too because it takes fewer fruits and veggies to get a large glassful of juice.  Your body can have immediate use of this powerful meal, so chances are you’ll feel better in short order.

Check the previous posts for suggestions about which fruits and vegetables are safer to buy standard.  The other items are best purchased from the organic sections.  It’s just good health insurance.

To Your Health,

Vida

TOMATO & STRING BEAN SALAD.

Besides being appetizing in flavor and appearance, tomato and string-bean salad has the advantage over some salads in that it can be made of either fresh or canned vegetables. For the salad here shown, tomatoes and beans canned by the cold-pack method were used. If it is desired to duplicate this salad, place a canned tomato or a peeled fresh tomato in the center of a plate garnished with lettuce and around it place several piles of three or four canned or freshly cooked beans. Serve with French dressing or any other desired salad dressing.
